Watchers

So yeah, I haven't been writing for the past week and I would just like to know what you guys think about this:

Amanda turned to the door and plugged the earphones to her ears before opening the door and going out. She hit the play button and was taken aback by the loud music blaring from the earphones that she dropped her wallet on the concrete while she was about to cross the street.

With music still blaring upon her ears, she picked up her wallet not hearing nor noticing that a car was fast approaching her. But she heard the faint sound of screeching tires and she instantly looked to her left only to see that she was about to get hit by a car. She couldn’t move a muscle and was frozen on the spot where she stood. It missed her for only more than an inch and shocked by the whole ordeal, she immediately felt her knees tremble.

The driver of the car, who was also in shock, stared blankly at his dashboard for a few seconds. It was not long afterwards that reality sank in and he rushed outside his car to see what happened to the girl who had turned white with fright after being almost hit with his car. Just as he was just a step away from the girl, the girl passed out in an instant and he caught her just in time. With the girl in his arms, he brushed the girl’s hair that was covering the girl’s face only to recognize the girl as the one he met at Uncle Earl’s Pub the night before and he remembered her name very clearly—Amanda. He reached for Amanda’s hand and felt that they were cold and trembling so he tried to bring back Amanda’s consciousness by tapping her face gently with his hand.

“Amanda, Amanda, wake up,” he said as he tried to shift her weight on him.

After a few more seconds of telling Amanda to wake up, Amanda moved and slowly opened her eyes.

Realizing she was in the arms of a man she didn’t know, Amanda quickly tried to get up but lost her balance and the man caught her once again.

“Are you alright?” the man asked her who was looking at her with a worried expression on his face.

Amanda, still confused, just nodded with her hand on her head.

“I’m sorry about that, Amanda.”

She got even more confused when she heard her name from the stranger’s mouth. She couldn’t remember telling the stranger her name after she gained consciousness. Still startled and puzzled with the thought that this man knew her name without her having any clue how the man knew her name, she forced herself to get up once again.

“H-how d-do y-you kn-know my name?” Amanda stuttered.

“You’re shaking. Let me take you inside,” the stranger replied, not paying attention to Amanda’s question and motioning Amanda towards Le Clare Cafe.

“I-I’m fine. Who—who are you?”

“I don’t believe you. You’re shaking terribly,” he said, trying to get her come with him inside the coffee shop but Amanda fought his urges and told him she won’t come anywhere with him unless he told her who he was.

“I’ll tell you but first, let me take you inside,” the stranger insisted as he guided Amanda to go inside Le Clare Cafe.

Once they were inside, the stranger helped her sit down and went straight to the counter afterwards to get a glass of water. He returned to the table moments later with the glass of water in hand and said, “You better drink this.”

Amanda took the glass of water from the stranger’s hand and took a sip. Then she took another and another in the hopes of reviving her strength. She also did it so as to avoid facing the stranger once again. The stranger, on the other hand, was watching her every move, still worried about how shaken Amanda was after the incident earlier.

“We always seem to find each other by accidentally bumping into each other—” the stranger finally said and Amanda finally lifted her eyes to look at him with a startled expression on her face. The stranger stared at her for a while and noticing the look on Amanda’s face, he continued, “Well, not always. This is just the second time which is a bit bad because I almost hit you with my car—sorry about that—” he paused, realizing he might already be sounding stupid while Amanda sat quietly not knowing if she should keep looking startled or laugh at who she was with.

“Damn it, I’m rambling—” he paused again then turning to face Amanda he asked, “Anyway, are you okay?”
